Location
The Institute for trace element research, created under the auspices of UNESCO, is situated in the heart of the scientific boulevard in the district of Gerland, Lyon, opposite the Ecole Normale Supérieure Sciences. Close-by, national research centres including the CNRS, INSERM and INRA are established and high technology industry is also represented (Aventis, Domiliens, CRTS, Mérieux Foundation’s L4 laboratory).

The Gerland district is situated in the South of Lyon at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône. This area is part of an ongoing urban development programme which will on completion make it a focal point in the Eurocity of Lyon in the 21st century.

In terms of accessibility, you can reach the institute by underground or by the ring-road. High-speed train services are available 10 minutes from the institute and the international St. Exupéry airport is located 20 minutes away.
